Inspiration or Imitation: Pepsi ‘Goodvives’ vs Lay’s Messi

Last March, LAY’S® released an advert featuring Lionel Messi, an Argentine footballer who plays as a forward for Spanish club FC Barcelona and the Argentina national team. In this new Lay’s advert, the man who has rarely met a challenge he hasn’t been able to overcome on the pitch, Messi, is presented with a new challenge: keeping hold of his precious snack. Just this month, Pepsi Philippines released an advert featuring Daniel Padilla and Julia Barretto with similar concept and music with Lay’s commercial. LAY’S® potato chips is under Frito-Lay division of PepsiCo.
