Agot Isidro’s cryptic post sparks speculation it was aimed at former OVP Disbursing Officer Gina Acosta

Actress-singer Agot Isidro sparked online discussion after posting a cryptic message that some netizens believed was directed at former Office of the Vice President (OVP) Special Disbursing Officer Gina Acosta amid the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.

In a post on X on Monday, August 24, Isidro appeared to question the competence and integrity of an unnamed individual who had allegedly been entrusted with a significant amount of public funds.

“Ganyan ba level ng comprehension, competency and integrity ang pinagkakatiwalaan ng half a billion pesos?” Isidro wrote.

“Tanga-tangahan ba or totoo na?

“Your honor, I’m confused.”

Isidro did not mention Acosta or Duterte in her post. However, several social media users interpreted her remarks as referring to Acosta, whose testimony concerning the OVP’s handling of confidential funds has drawn attention during the impeachment proceedings.

Acosta previously served as a Special Disbursing Officer of the OVP and was involved in processing and disbursing the office’s confidential funds.

During her appearance before the impeachment court, Acosta reportedly acknowledged that she did not undergo formal training specifically for her role as SDO and said she did not know why Duterte had selected her to handle confidential funds.

“Hindi ko alam, Your Honor. Basta ginagawa ko lang ang trabaho ko na pagiging SDO,” Acosta said when asked why she had been chosen for the responsibility.

Her statements subsequently became part of the prosecution’s questioning concerning her role and qualifications in handling substantial amounts of confidential funds.

Another key point raised during Acosta’s testimony involved ₱125 million in confidential funds that she said was turned over to Duterte’s security officer, Col. Raymund Dante Lachica.

According to Acosta’s testimony, Duterte instructed her to turn over the funds to Lachica.

Acosta had earlier been treated as a hostile witness during the impeachment proceedings after the prosecution raised concerns over a potential conflict of interest, citing her continued employment with the OVP and connection to the Duterte administration.

Following Isidro’s post, netizens shared different reactions, with several criticizing Acosta’s responses during questioning.

“For someone who has worked for VPS during VPS’s mayor days, she knows what she’s doing, dating gawi! She’s pretty smart on evading all the questions. I don’t feel sorry for her. She knows what she’s doing hence kailangan nya rin managot!” one netizen commented.

Another sarcastically wrote, “Si Gina Acosta ang future secretary ng Department of Budget and Management pag naging presidente si Inday Sara.”

Others questioned how someone entrusted with handling large amounts of government funds could give the responses heard during the proceedings.

While Isidro’s post quickly generated speculation, the actress has not explicitly confirmed that she was referring to Acosta.

Isidro has been known for openly expressing her views on political and social issues through social media.
