Tuesday Vargas calls for stronger Anti-Bullying measures in schools

Rather than focusing solely on punishment, actress and host Tuesday Vargas believes authorities should strengthen efforts to address bullying inside schools.

Following the deadly shooting at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City, Vargas shared her concerns about the underlying issues that may contribute to youth violence.

“With bullying cited as a core trigger in the recent shooting, anti-bullying policies must move past paperwork into active enforcement,” she said in a Facebook post.

According to Vargas, the recent tragedy should prompt schools, parents, and government agencies to evaluate whether existing anti-bullying measures are truly being implemented effectively.

“Paano umabot sa punto na nilagay na ng mga bata sa kamay nila ang batas? Kailangan nating tanungin yan sa ating mga sarili,” she added.

The actress argued that simply reacting after a violent incident occurs is not enough. Instead, she believes schools must take a more proactive role in protecting students and identifying problems before they escalate.

For Vargas, meaningful prevention efforts are just as important as accountability when addressing violence involving young people.
