The 25-year-old, originally from Ilocos, also shared his sense of nostalgia while island hopping.

“Only if that little kid who grew up in Sanchez Mira, Cagayan, knew he would have everything he ever dreamt of one day. It’s so hard not to feel proud of that little brown boy when I’m home,” he wrote in the caption of his beach photos.

While most Filipino netizens enjoyed seeing Bretman make the most of his time back home, some brought up the idea of him serving as the Philippines’ global tourism ambassador, a role previously held by Filipino-American actress Vanessa Hudgens.

One netizen commented, “Why are you not the Philippines’ ambassador again?”

Another netizen wrote, “Don’t get me wrong, I like Vanessa Hudgens, but Bretman Rock should’ve been the Global Tourism Ambassador to promote the Philippines.”

A third commenter humorously said, “Vanessa Hudgens is shaking [fire emojis],” to which Bretman replied, “B**** can’t even say Palawan.”

Bretman’s remark appears to refer to a video of Vanessa struggling to pronounce the word “Palawan” during her first visit to the Philippines in March, where she was filming a travel documentary with her Filipino mother and sister.

Bretman Rock was last in Manila in March for book-signing events promoting his memoir, titled “You’re That Bitch and Other Cute Lessons About Being Unapologetically Yourself.”
