Filipino actress Andrea Brillantes had an unforgettable evening as her beloved band Blackpink invited her boyfriend, Ricci Rivero, to the Star Magic prom as Brillantes’ date.
On March 26, at the Blackpink concert held at the Philippine Arena, the South Korean girl group’s members spotted Brillantes’ sign requesting basketball star Rivero to accompany her to prom.
Brillantes and Rivero were among the many Filipino fans attending Blackpink’s second performance at the Bulacan-based arena.
“Please go to prom with that girl,” said Rosé, who then read the sign: “I just wanna ask Ricci Rivero, will you go to prom with Andrea?”
However, fans blasted Brillantes for using her celebrity status to make a scene.

However, Brillantes’ supporters said the actress was just being another Blackpink fan.

Meanwhile, Rivero said he had no idea of Brillantes’ plan of a “promposal.” The actor narrated, “Actually, wala akong idea sa plano niya. Ipinakita niya sa akin yung isang banner. Wala naman akong ideas sa writing ng Korean so hindi ko alam at hindi ko rin naintindihan. Kaya nung tinatanong ako, hindi ko agad alam ang sasabihin ko kasi hindi ko naiintindihan, e.”
He even asked Brillantes what was written since he could not understand it.
He continued, “So, nung binasa nila, makikita sa ibang pictures na gulat na gulat ako nang iangat na yung English tarpaulin…So, sabay lang kami ni Rosé na nagbasa.”
He said he didn’t know how to react because Lisa, Jisoo, and Jennie of Blackpink were as surprised as he was.
“Hindi talaga nagsi-sink sa akin hanggang sa nagtatanong na sina Rosé kung ‘Nag-yes ba? Nag-yes ba?’ Dun ko pa lang na-realize,” he continued.
Rivero said that every fan dreams of being noticed by the group. He defended Andrea Brillantes, Anndrew Blythe Daguio Gorostiza in real life by saying, “Kung ano yung ginawa ni Blythe, ganoon din ang ginawa ng iba. Malaking bagay para sa fans ang mapansin ng idol nila so that’s exactly what Blythe did. Nag-try siya, e, napansin siya ng idol niya.”
The actor disclosed that he was happy for her knowing her plans succeeded.
