Diane Medina goes viral after mispronouncing “subunit”

Netizens pounced on the opportunity to ridicule Medina’s embarrassing moment.

PTV’s ‘Rise and Shine Pilipinas’ host Diane Medina was made fun of on social media after mispronouncing the word “subunit.”

During the ‘Talk Biz’ segment, Medina touched on the K-pop group TWICE’s highly-anticipated debut in Japan.

The debut will not include all members but will consist of a subunit that includes Mina, Sana, and Momo.

Medina, who looked comfortable delivering the news, mispronounced the word “subunit” twice, no pun intended.

According to the dictionary, subunit is the correct spelling but typing it as “sub-unit” wouldn’t be wrong either.

Fortunately, for Medina, she was able to redeem herself in another segment of her show, pronouncing “subunit” correctly with emphasis.

Meanwhile, JYP Entertainment and the official social media accounts of Twice have been releasing preview images and videos in anticipation of the group’s return on March 10th with their 12th extended play, ‘Ready to Be’.

The comeback was preceded by their English single, ‘Moonlight Sunrise’, which was released last month. The teaser content features the girls dressed in white outfits in a makeshift waiting area and hallway, with the concept being referred to as ‘Misamo’.

In addition to the group teaser, individual trailers were also released featuring Sana posing by a city skyline while sipping on a drink, Mina entering and exiting a luxurious dining area, and Momo sitting in front of a decorated table. They were dressed in black and silver-white outfits.

The subunit, Misamo, has already released the song ‘Bouquet’ for the soundtrack of the Japanese series “Liaison: Children’s Heart Clinic,” which was well-received. The group is also set to grace the cover of Vogue Japan’s March issue.

JYP Entertainment previously announced that Twice would embark on a “large-scale” world tour in 2023. All members of the group have renewed their exclusive contracts with the label, and in July, Nayeon released her solo album.
