After being named as the latest endorser of Shopee, Toni Gonzaga showed no signs of being unaffected by the criticism she received, not a bit.
Shopee entered a deal with Gonzaga, and netizens blasted the e-commerce site and urged others to switch to its rival Lazada.
The shopping site announced Gonzaga as its latest endorser after it laid off workers in the country and left a bad taste toward the public.
Despite the constant attacks, Gonzaga seemed to be unfazed at all. At the launch, the Ultmate Multimedia Star said she was grateful to her critics for giving the deal free “mentions and engagements.”
“We are grateful because we [have been] trending since yesterday and today. We are grateful to our netizens for the mentions, and the engagements. We are grateful for them because they are also one of the reasons why we are here where we are today,” Gonzaga said.
Recently, she shared a post from social media agency–Authority Asia that described Shopee’s move in hiring her was simply “PR win” for the company.
“From the teaser and hours after launching her as the new face of the e-commerce platform brand, the multimedia superstar has proven that whatever she endorses turns loud – trending even until today, Shopee secures its top spot as the first brand that we think of when asked about ‘online shopping,’” the entry read.
“Perceived by others as some sort of ‘backlash’, the consistent and loud digital awareness and brand relevance this engagement is making, is still making it a PR success.” the caption wrote.
Gonzaga’s move angered the critics even more.

The netizens found out about Authority Asia’s 46-days [or less] establishment, and the social media pages are dubious.

Meanwhile, Gonzaga is excited about her regular hosting for her new program on AllTV called Toni.
“May set na tayo. ‘Di ba dati sa gilid lang tayo nagshu-shoot. Ngayon may set na,” mangiyak-ngiyak pang pahayag ni Toni habang minamasdan ang sosyal na gayak sa bago niyang show sa network.
“Sabi ko na ayokong umiyak eh. Umiyak na ‘ko sa kotse, sabi ko ayoko na umiyak,” an emotional Gonzaga said.
Toni will be the first TV program she will host in a long time. Watch it on AllTV from Mondays to Fridays.
