Gino Roque’s business knowledge helped transition to entertainment industry

Instead of turning passive, Gino saw the pandemic as an opportunity to enter the entertainment industry

Gino Roque IV admits that his vast experience being an entrepreneur has helped him thrive in the entertainment industry.

Being an adult housemate in the fourth batch of Pinoy Big Brother 8 opened him up to the idea of becoming a producer.

Yung pamilya ko mga negosyante tapos nung pumasok ako sa Pinoy Big Brother parang bumukas yung industriya saakin na pwede akong mag produce. Yun talaga ang goal ko. Sabi nila subukan ko mag act.” he said during an interview with LionhearTV.

Prior to the pandemic, Gino would host mixed martial arts events. Because of the health crisis, that kind of endeavor had to be limited, prompting him to think of another way to make money.

And the number one idea that came to mind was to create a drama series titled ‘Beauty and The Boss.’

Nung di na pwede yung events sabi ko pivot tayo gawa tayo ng teleserye. That’s when ‘Beauty and The Boss’ came around.” he shared.

His first project as a producer was a success and making another one was only right.

Since naging number one kami meron kaming Pasabuy and sana sunod sunod na yung pa proproduce namin.”

Instead of turning passive, Gino saw the pandemic as an opportunity to enter the entertainment industry.

Sa pandemya zero events so ‘pano yan? To produce in a pandemic mas mahal pero ilan lang ang nagpoproduce. I felt like it was an opportunity to try and get my feet wet in this whole industry.”

His knowledge in business played a big part in starting as a producer as well.

That’s why we’ve been able to have multiple series kaagad is because there’s a blueprint that we’ve created over the years.” he added.

Pasabuy is a WeTV original series that stars Heaven Paralejo. It was written and directed by Xian Lim.
