Eatery appears to discriminate against food delivery riders by denying them water

People said it was ironic for the eatery to put up a sign like that as there is a bible verse on the wall behind the dispenser

An eatery in Naga City is being accused of discrimination after it put up a sign saying delivery riders cannot drink water from its dispenser.

Netizen Mark Manuel shared photos of the sign on the Facebook page “FoodPanda Riders & Bikers” which had people furious.

The sign on the dispenser says “FOR CUSTOMERS ONLY!!! NOT FOR FOOD PANDA RIDERS!”

People said it was ironic for the eatery to put up a sign like that as there is a bible verse on the wall behind the dispenser.

Nkakahiya talaga s verse ng bible tapos ganyan makikita mo s water dispenser.. sira ulo ata yang may ari nyan eh.. madamot s tubig pero mkadiyos,” one netizen said.

May pa lord lord pa, hnd naman marunong magpainom.” another said.

Others commented saying that the delivery company should just break away from being partners with the eatery.

“Wag nyo rin deliver pagkain nila animal pala sila eh,”

Some think the eatery is so selfish to deny riders water amid the pandemic.

Sa gitna NG pandemic naisip nyo pa mag damot,”

Someone from the eatery, probably the owner, then came out and defended the sign. It appears that there is a separate water dispenser for delivery riders. The proof can be seen in CCTV footage.

The video shows a delivery rider entering the eatery looking to drink water. When he sees the dispenser that says “for customers only,” he walks back and goes to another dispenser.

Christos T. Agregado went and cleared the issue up.

He was angry that the sign on the dispenser was shared because it doesn’t tell the whole story.

“Sana man lang bago mag share ng isang bagay ay yung buong katotohanan.” he wrote.

He explained that the “for customers only” sign has been there for a long time already so they just added the “not for Food Panda riders” because riders have a separate dispenser.

Christos also asked the public not to go after the one who uploaded the photo as he already apologized.
