Only in the movies? Children receive one last gift from deceased mother

Picture this: you’re celebrating your birthday with the usual fanfare—friends, food, etc. You invite your aunts and uncles to liven up the party.

You then ask your titas to take some of your recently-deceased mother’s clothes, only to find out she left what can only be described as a final gift.

That’s what happened to Tim Salonga and his older sister Heka—the birthday celebrator in this case.

He shared five photos that proved just how much their mother loved them. Salonga dubbed it his mom’s last wish.

“It started yesterday, September 23, 2020. It was my Ate Heka’s birthday. Never in my life would I have imagined that I will witness this kind of heartwarming love.”

According to Salonga, their mom left them a couple of what can best be described as care packages—a bit of money, jewelry, and a passbook with an undisclosed amount.

From Salonga’s posts, it all started when his sister Herica asked her aunts to take home her mom’s clothes. “Habang tinatanggal nila sa hanger yung damit, napansin nila itong damit na ito. Bakit nakatago pa sa loob ng dalawang damit? May bulsa, saka lumang luma na.”

Their aunts noticed that the old button-up shirt had something in one of its pockets. When they turned it out, they found something surprising: 5,000 pesos, three rings, and a pair of earrings along with a letter from their mother—who died four years ago.

The letter told Salonga what the money and jewelry were for. “Para sa pag-aaral ni Tim, Hazel, Herica ang perang ito.” It seems their mother was saving these for a rainy day, i.e. when they would need money for school.

Their mother also said they could use the money and the jewelry to start a small business, asking that they grow what she left them.

To their surprise, another visitor shared a revelation that none of the siblings knew: their mom had left something else for them in her old sewing machine.

“Naisipan ni Ateng kunin at buksan yung lumang makina ni Mama na muntik na namin ipakalkal noon.”

This is when the onion-cutting ninjas really did work. They discovered that their mom stashed away a passbook with an undisclosed amount saved in a bank account and a couple of bundles of P1,000 bills.

The heartfelt post of Tim Salonga has since been shared almost 17,000 times on Facebook. His sister, Herica, also left a heartfelt message for their mother and father, who also appears to have passed away.

It’s stories like these that really warm your heart. It’s proof that a mother’s love is something magical—and, in this case, goes way beyond the grave.
