Man suffering from a serious illness commits suicide

Relatives of the victim heard a gunshot from Mendez’s room at around 8:30 a.m.

A 50-year-old man, who was allegedly suffering from a serious illness, committed suicide by shooting himself inside their house in Caloocan City on Monday morning.

A police report showed that Ronaldo Mendez of Barangay 186 committed suicide by shooting himself in the chest.

Police said relatives of the victim heard a gunshot from Mendez’s room at around 8:30 a.m., prompting them to open the door.

The relatives said they found Mendez’s bloodied body sprawled on the floor.

His relatives rushed him to Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital, but to no avail.

A .38 caliber revolver loaded with one empty shell and a live bullet in the chamber were recovered from the crime scene by police investigators.

Mendez’s family told police that the victim has already tried to commit suicide several times due to a serious health problem, which they did not elaborate.
