Mother blocks and refuses to pay the babysitter; thinks an “ice cream and fun” are enough for payment

  • Mother refused to pay her babysitter after previously agreeing to give her $16 per hour.
  • They messaged the husband saying that they will take the complaint to Small Court Claims if they still refused to pay her $128.

Reddit user VortexThing posted an interesting conversation between his sister and the mother of the children she babysat.

His sister, Kristen, is the owner of her own babysitting website, and that was the way the woman contacted her.

“Beforehand, my sister described her as ‘respectful and courteous,’ which made it all the weirder that the woman attempted to turn around and scheme her,” the boy added.

At the first photo, Kristen was asking if she could drop by at the house the following day to collect her payment. And the mother immediately replied that she “wasn’t aware payment was involved”, and that the babysitter already had “free ice cream and a day of fun.”

Kristen then reminded her that they have discussed a payment of $16 an hour. She also clarified that the reason why she did her job was for the payment.

And that is when the mother called her “stuck up” and offered $20.

The babysitter said that she watched the kids for eight hours and that equals to $128 of money.

When the mother still refused to pay her, she stated that she would accept a discounted price of $100 as she still has textbooks to pay for.

But the mother went along and proceeded to block her.

VortexThing said that many have recommended a small claims court, which would help in small legal dealings. They have called the husband but he was said to be sheepish about the incident before ignoring them.

After they have sent him a text saying that they will take it to court if they don’t pay the right amount, the mother unblocked Kristen and promised to pay her as soon as she drops by the house.
