A netizen posted about a scene he witnessed while he was riding the LRT.

On December 11, Facebook user Jose Macaya was riding the LRT. A guy and a girl entered the train at Anonas station, and as there was only one seat left, the girl immediately approached it.

But as she sensed that the guy was tired, she stopped and told him that he can sit instead. The guy was hesitant and even looked around him to see if ayone was looking before sitting.

Macaya wrote, “The pursuit of equality is really a two-way street; where men humble themselves and allow women to take control without having to feel or think na “nababawasan ang pagkalalake nila” because in reality, it really doesn’t; and where women who empower themselves by not accepting equality only when it is convenient for them.”

He clarified that the post was not to “extinguish” chivalry, but to point out “good conduct”, which is not demandable when not given.

“Let’s reshape our way of thinking as to how we act to a certain sex and remove the toxic mentality that men are pressured to accommodate women even when it’s not convenient just for the sake of chivalry and women are entitled to commodities simply because they’re women.”
