Miss Q and A’s Elsa Droga Mendoza shares about his teenage years

  • Miss Q and A’s Elsa Droga shared more about his struggles when he was still a teenager.
  • Elsa said that there was a time that he had to trade other people’s garbage just to earn money for his family.

In a feature from ABS-CBN‘s Rated K,  Arjay Bongay a.k.a. Elsa Droga revealed that he used to pick up and trade garbage before just to earn for a living.

He narrated how his family accepted his sexuality even when he was still young. When he reached high school, that’s when he experienced all the bullying which led him to discontinue his education even if he was already in his senior year.

He did manage to finish high school using the Alternative Learning System.

Elsa told the story of how his family had to live beside a dumpsite when they moved to Zambales. He was 17 years old when he started trading trash for money. Even if it’s one of his darkest in his life, he said that he’s proud of it.

“Magkakalkal kami ng basura para lang kumita at magkapera, para lang kumain kami ng tatlong beses sa isang araw.” he stressed.

He proceeded to tell the story of how he became ‘Elsa Droga’. He said that he started using the moniker when he entered and competed in Ms. Gay Pangkalawakan.

Elsa also said that he used to join every single Ms. Gay Pangkalawakan (Miss Gay Space) pageant and often brought home the title and crown.

“Para pong ganun, parang may sumasapi sa akin na masamamang elemento.” he said.
