Miss Earth Title Holders in the Philippines

Miss Earth is one of the most publicized beauty pageants together with Miss Universe, Miss International and Miss World. These are the women that came in as a runner up and won the title:

2006

Cathy Untalan: 2nd Runner Up

Before she joined Miss Earth, she was a co-host the awards night of the Moonrise Film Festival sponsored by the Center for Environmental Awareness and Education, which was held at the Gateway Mall in Cubao, Quezon City. She was a courtside reporter for the San Beda Red Lions during the first half of the 82nd season of the National Collegiate Athletic Associate (NCAA).

Two years later, she became the courtside reporter for her Alma Mater’s team, the University of the Philippine Fighting Maroons during the University Athletic Association of the Philippines’ 67th Season.

2008

Karla Henry: WINNER

Karla Henry was the first Philippine delegate and the first in the Asian region to win that title. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Tourism and was working with Marco Polo Plaza Hotel when she was invited to join the Miss Earth pageant. She speaks Spanish with a degree of fluency.

2009

Sandra Seifert: 1st Runner Up

Sandra Seifert is a New York-based nurse from Bacolod City, Negros Occidental. She was discovered by a talent scout when she was fourteen years old. She received a call to join her first fashion show for a French eye wear company.

2011

Athena Imperial: 2nd Runner Up

Athena Imperial is news, field reporter and a communication researcher from Legazpi City, Albay in Bicol. She used to work as a writer for GMA Network’s investigative news magazine show, “Reporter’s Notebook.” She is currently a news reporter at the same television network.

2012

Stephany Stefanowitz: 1st Runner Up

Stephany Stefanowitz is a model and a fashion designer from Quezon City, Philippines. She graduated Fashion Design and Merchandising from De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde.

2014

Jamie Herrell: WINNER

Jamie Herrell studied Mass Communication student at the University of San Jose – Recoletos then transferred to International Academy of Film and Television to study acting. She also received an award as The Outstanding Individual Award during the 80th Cebu City Charter Day Awarding Ceremony for her environmental advocacy.

2015

Angelia Ong: WINNER

Angelia Ong was born in Iloilo City. She won back-to-back for Miss Earth 2015. Although when she got home from the pageant, she felt deeply overshadowed by Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach herself. She said in an interview with Boy Abunda that she dreamt of being welcomed in the Philippines in the country with a grand parade and meeting presidents like the former president Benigno Aquino III and the current president Rodrigo Duterte.

But none of that happen when she won back-to-back. Although she also said, “I went back to the reason why I did this. It’s not just about fame or about the attention, I joined not only for myself and my family, but also for the advocacy of the pageant, which is protecting the environment.”
