Pinoy Pride! This Filipina Teacher Receives An Award in China

Lilian Albarico, a Filipino teacher in Nanchang City, Jiangxi received an award for her contribution to the education of the province.

She was a recipient of Tengwengge Friendship Award, the highest recognition an immigrant can attain in the city.

Albarico is a native from Dimataling, Zamboanga Del Sur, and currently teaching high school students. She is under the Nova Scotia Program, Sino-Canadian Department, Nanchang No. 2 High School in Nanchang City.

Undeniable Contribution

She received the award for her undeniable contribution in the city’s education and society.

 The one that really pushed me to bring my students to help is that it will always make you feel good at the end of the day, that you did something for other people.

Albarico started to live in Nanchang on 2009 and began to teach Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics.

This Filipina pride is the only female recipient of the award among 7 other awardees. She is also the first Filipino to receive the prestigious award.

Tengwengge Pavilion Friendship Award is held bi-annually to Nanchang-based expatriates to recognize their accomplishments and contributions to the city. Nanchang City Municipal Government established the award in 2005.
