Woman ‘marries’ dead fiance

They say love has no boundaries and transcends even death. For Tel Madrona Talusan, this holds very true. Opening her post with lyrics from a popular Filipino love song, Tel bid her fiance farewell on her Facebook account.

Tel lamented on how she and her then-fiance Rumpel were unable to get married because the latter died unexpectedly.

Mahal ko, hindi man to tulad ng kasal sa loob ng simbahan, wala mang papel bilang patunay ng kasunduan, alam ko na sa mata ng diyos ako at ikaw ay iisa bilang mag-asawa, [My love, even though we were not married in the church, even though we don’t have a piece of paper that proves our marriage, I know that in the eyes of God, you and I are husband and wife,]” said Tel.

The heartbreaking post was full of love as Tel relayed how she looked forward to being with Rumpel again in the future. Though no one could ever say when that day would be, Tel said she would never tire of loving Rumpel.

In her previous posts, Tel shared her longing for her Rumpel. In one post, she said, “Hindi mo naman kasi kami dapat iniwan, hindi naman yun yung solusyon eh kaya naman nating lumaban, hindi naman dapat aksidenteng hindi natin ginusto ang tatapos sa buhay mo, hindi yun ang makakapag pahiwalay saten ng tuluyan. [You shouldn’t have left us, that wasn’t the solution to all our problems. It shouldn’t have been an accident that ended your life, that shouldn’t have been what will separate us forever.]”

In another post, Tel was desperately asking if anyone knew the password of Rumpel’s phone because it had photos from the last day they were together.

In her other posts, Tel spilled her heart out with much longing and love. Many of family and friends continued to console her by saying she had to be strong for her and Rumpel’s daughter Alas.

What struck many netizens the most was how they were such a loving couple even in the eyes of those who weren’t all that close to them. Netizen Lovelyne Pahayag Flores commented, “Condolence Tel! Di man tayo close, sa mutual friend lang kita nakilala. Pero sinubaybayan ko ang relasyon nyo, halos kayo na nga lang ang nagpapakilig sakin. Kada post mo halos madurog nadin ang puso ko. Sobra kong hanga sayo. Magpakatatag ka para sa sarili mo at kay Alas. Marami ang nagmamahal sayo. [My condolences, Tel. Even though we aren’t close, and I only know you through a  mutual friend. I watched your love grow and was thrilled about your relationship. My heart breaks whenever I see your posts now, but I admire you. Be strong for yourself and Alas. You are very much loved.]”

Tel is indeed going through perhaps the biggest challenge of her life, but many of her family and friends are there to support her. We can only hope Tel surpasses this for the sake of Alas. The Dailypedia extends its condolences to Tel and Rumpel’s families. May Rumpel rest in peace.

  1. Hi! I would like to tell you that Alas is a baby girl. It’s supposed to be Rumpel’s daughter, not Rumpel’s son. Thank you! 🙂
