DAVAO CITY, Philippines– Davao City Mayor Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte finally announced his final decision on the presidential bid today at around 4 P.M. at the Grand Men Seng Hotel in Davao City.
Duterte, who has been adamant in saying that he will not run for presidency, said during the press conference on September 7, 2015 that he has finally decided not to run for presidency despite the call of the public for him to run for the highest post in the country on the 2016 Presidential Elections.
“I am not running “, Duterte stated.
Duterte arrived with the finally decision by seeking the advice of his family who was against his presidential bid. Today, he finally made an announcement to a crowd of supporters who were mostly crying, Rappler reports.
On August 28, 2015, supporters from across the country held a nationwide caravan pushing Duterte to consider running for presidency. The said national caravan was able to gather an estimated 19.25 million supporters in the country and abroad.
