Around 100 bare-chested foreigners dressed as Spartan warriors roaming the streets of Beijing drew a crowd of admirers, paparazzi, and then unexpectedly, the police.

As part of a publicity stunt for Beijing-based restaurant Salad Sweetie, the male models clad in leather shorts and flowing capes marched through the streets flaunting their muscles. The Spartan warriors were supposed to deliver salad lunches to office workers.

As expected, their presence attracted onlookers who took their photos. Although it seemed that the PR stunt was successful, there was one huge problem.

Apparently, the event organizers failed to secure a permit.

After ignoring several warnings from the police, the “Spartan warriors” were arrested for “causing a public disturbance.” Several photos showing police wrestling the male models to the ground emerged online.

Salad Sweetie has since apologized for the incident.

“After yesterday’s incident, we have come to realize that we lack experience in coordinating major events as a start-up company. We have worked out all misunderstandings with the police,” it said.
