Expat robbed by two beggars on C5

Being generous should always be something that can give us a good feeling. However, sometimes being nice can actually hurt us.

Take for example the story of an expat who usually gives alms to beggars on C5. According to James Deakin, who first reported this incident, the expat was robbed while she was about to give some change to a beggar.

The expat had rolled down her car windows half-way to get a bit of fresh air while she was stuck in traffic on C5 one evening. A teenaged boy soon appeared at the passenger side window, singing and begging for cash. As she reached into her bag for some money, another beggar appeared at the car window beside her and threatened her with a knife. They took her wallet and her mobile phone and disappeared into the night.

After the incident, she posted a message on a closed Facebook group for expats to tell others what she experienced.

She ended her message with a warning to others to be careful about driving on C5 and about dealing with beggars. She also said she hoped that the horrible experience would be her last since she and her family love living in the Philippines.
