Creepy disembodied hands appear in photo taken at Mt. Kinabalu after earthquake

A pair of creepy hands mysteriously appeared in the group photos taken at the base of Mt. Kinabalu. The photos, which were captured using a mobile phone camera and a Nikon camera, were taken after a 5.9 magnitude earthquake shook Sabah on June 5.

The photos show members of Persatuan Komuniti Bugis Sabah (PKBS) posing with mountain guide Mhd Rizuan Kauhinin after giving their donations intended for the victims of the earthquake.

Samasuddin Yusop, PKBS vice-president who also appeared in the eerie photo, said the photos were not modified.

Many people asked us about the photographs but even we have difficulty determining if was a makhluk (mysterious creature) or a problem with the cameras,” he said.

In the photo taken using the Nikon camera, only one additional hand appeared. However, two extra hands were spotted resting very close to Samasuddin’s back in the photo captured using the mobile phone. The position of the hands were slightly changed in the photos.

Although Samassudin is not bothered by the spine-tingling images, he believes that these photos are trying to impart a very important lesson.

“The image could be a reminder to keep in mind the victims who had lost their lives to the earthquake,” Sammassudin said.

Regarded as the strongest earthquake to hit Malaysia since 1976, the 2015 Sabah earthquake claimed the lives of 18 people on Mount Kinabalu. Most of the casualties were Singaporean students from Tanjong Katong Primary School.
