WATCH: This is What Happens to Your Skin When You Deprive Yourself of Sleep

Are you getting enough sleep?

A research conducted by Bensons for Beds revealed the shocking effects of sleep deprivation on women’s skins.

With the help of 30 female volunteers including supermodel Jodie Kidd, the researchers determined the effects of poor night sleep on the skin including fine lines, wrinkles, evenness of skin tone, and overall texture.

Each of the volunteers, who initially slept for full eight hours at night, were asked to have their skin tested using Visia machine. They also answered a survey on their well-being and self-esteem.

The participants were then asked to sleep only for six hours a night for the next five nights.

Dr. Guy Meadows, Clinical Director of The Sleep School, explained the effect of sleep deprivation on one’s skin:

“Sleep is when the body and skin renew itself. When you have poor night sleep, we often see it show up in our face,” he said.
