DSWD provincial action staff Monet Gantang said that the child is in the hospital for a medical check-up, according to DZBB reports.

“Nasa amin na siya. Narito kami sa hospital for a medical checkup. (Ang bata) okay naman,” Gantang said.

The one year and five month child is undergoing psychosocial assessment, she added.

She said the mother regretted posting his son’s photos online, which plagued rage among netizens.

Gantang said the 23 year old mother made her son acted like a dog since he’s immitating sounds of animals, who didn’t complain being photographed like an animal.

“Nakuhanan ng picture na di nila naisip ano magiging consequence ng ginawa nila… Hindi niya naisip na mali ang nagawa niya,” she added.

She noted that mother’s-in laws has asserted her behavior.

“Yung biyenan at sa paligid nag-vouch mabuting tao ang nanay ng bata. Nagkataon (hindi) naisip ng bata mali ang ginawa niya,” she said.

Stop spreading the photos

The DSWD urged the public to halt spreading the pictures online as it may inflict trauma to the child.

“Please help stop making it viral as it might traumatize the child as he grows up,” Espejo said.

The controversial photos angered netizens who said it’s the mother who deserves to put on leash.
