Boy Found Inside a Suitcase For Smuggling

CEUTA, Spain — A 19-year-old Moroccan woman was caught trying to smuggle an 8-year-old boy into Spain. The boy was found inside a small suitcase through an X-ray scan at a border crossing in Ceuta.

The Telegraph reports that the boy was from the Ivory Coast in Africa. He immediately said his name after the suitcase was opened for inspection.

The Moroccan woman, who was only identified with the initials F.E.Y., looked suspicious as she was about to approach the X-ray scanner at the Tarajal border crossing. She was then immediately arrested.

Hours after the boy was released from the suitcase, a man identified with the initials A.O., told the authorities that he was the father of the boy and that he only wanted to be with his child. It was later found out that the father had residency papers in Spain while his son does not.

I just wanted to take him to the Canaries with me.

A.O. was also arrested and would have to face authorities for charges of human trafficking.

As of writing, the boy is now under the custody of Spain’s child protection services.
