Is ‘Tadhana’ Director to Blame for Overcrowded, Ruined Sagada? Yeah, Right!

Jadaone Did Not Tell People to “Leave No Trace”

Apparently, when you are doing a movie, you also have to make it an educational one where you teach people what to do. So, when Jadaone made the movie, she should have added a moment wherein our stars stopped for a lecture before heading up the mountain so the viewers who would definitely go to Sagada to follow their journey will also practice the “Leave No Trace (LNT)” principle.

Sadly, we Filipinos have such apparent disregard for the laws of throwing trash and tampering with nature that we can’t understand Mt. Kiltepan does not have janitors to clean up after us. This is definitely not Jadaone’s fault because everywhere you go, even in the hangouts in high-end offices, there’s bound to be trash lying around.

Of course, she could have made a difference by trying to incorporate the love of nature and the responsibility to keep the environment clean in the movie but just because she did not do that does not mean she was at fault when stupid tourists trampled nature and threw their trash in Sagada’s Mt. Kiltepan!

I just hope that the Local Government Unit of Sagada was ready for the flood-coming of the local and foreign tourists. They should be thankful for Star Cinema especially its director for their spot was advertised by the blockbuster movie.

Discipline starts at home.

You don’t need a film director to tell people that! What those people did are their own faults, not Jadaone’s – she is a filmmaker, not a teacher or your own parent!

  1. What can you say about slapstick comedy being shown in television and its correlation to office and school bullying. Yes, it’s the people’s fault alright. Media is one of the causes of this country’s dumbing down. Let’s add more Kris Aquino to the mix. In 2016 elections, blame the masa again for voting the wrong people.

There’s this one director who had one of his talents got kicked out of his/her home as a result of an unorthodox film they made. What the director did: He called out the talent’s parents, found the talent a home, and provided for the talent’s needs. He’s just one of the very few of them embracing accountability in response to the repercussions of his work. As for the Sagada spectacle, that’s an entire town robbed of solemnity during Holy Week and she did what? She tweeted another show of her film. That heartless.

  2. Since 2011, a lot of tourists wake up early during weekends, (Saturdays and Sundays) just to watch the sun come up from the mountains of Kiltepan peak. IT ONLY HAPPENS DURING LONG HOLIDAYS. It has been that scenario even before that Tadhana movie.

Nobody is to be blamed here. It’s the media that made it that site popular and not that movie alone.
