Filipino guys can surely relate with Mikey Bustos’ latest parody video of Sam Smith’s “Stay with Me” as this song features the age-old tradition of circumcision.
Of course, as you would expect in Mikey’s videos, he is promoting the Filipino way of life so the circumcision is not the modern one kids experience these days at a medical facility. He’s taking us back to the days when the grade school kids had to line up while waiting for their turn.
They have to chew on guava leaves which are later placed on the wounds to hasten healing.
It is really funny how Mikey was able to capture the essence of this tradition – down to the worried expressions of the kids lining up and waiting while the “magtutuli” guy sharpens his bolo. Ouch!
Also, as with his other parodies, he made the parody lyrics fit the original song’s arrangements. This guy is truly awesome!
