This Video Will Surely Touch Filipinos Here and Abroad

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), there are about 2.2 million Filipinos working abroad in 2012. In the total Philippine population of about 100 million, it may seem just a very small fraction. However, I’m sure everybody agrees that almost everyone knows someone or who has a relative working abroad.

Last December 14, Google Philippines released a touching video dedicated to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who cannot come home for the holidays, and their families. With a child’s voice singing Basil Valdez’s classic song “You”, the video surely would capture the heart of anyone who watches it.

Although the video aims to promote Google’s Balikbayan campaign for its different services aiming to connect OFWs abroad and their families here in the Philippines, the video’s message about connecting with the family has touched many netizens and the video already has more than 400,000 views on Youtube as of writing.
