If you think life inside the prison is hard, the “VIP” rooms inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) will probably change your mind.
During a surprise visit to the national penitentiary’s maximum security compound on Monday, December 15, Department of Justice Secretary Leila De Lima, members of the Philippine National Police (PNP), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) found some “strange” things inside the detention cells of some “VIP” inmates.

Among the unusual things they discovered were a 48-inch TV, a Sony PlayStation 4, hot tub, jacuzzi, a sauna facility, luxury bags and watches, and even a sex doll, reports RachFeed.
But that’s not all.
The operatives recovered shabu inside convicted drug lord Peter Co’s cell. Moreover, they found a paper with a list of names and corresponding amount which possibly suggests that Co still holds his illegal operations inside the prison.
Inside Co’s room, the authorities also found P1.4 million cash, six guns, entertainment appliances, sauna facility, and a secret pathway.
Robbery group leader Herbert Colangco’s room contained eight luxury watches including five Rolex, one Cartier, one Panerai, and one Patek Philippe. The room has a vault that holds high-end wallets such as Louis Vuitton, Hermes, and Prada.
Jojo Baligad, a discharged US Army serviceman who was convicted for drug trafficking, has a sex doll and hot tub inside his cell.
De Lima: Criminal Charges Will Be Filed
Shocked and disgusted by what she discovered, De Lima said they will file charges against the inmates who are keeping prohibited items inside the jail. Furthermore, administrative and criminal charges will be filed against the jail authorities involved.
According to De Lima, they have not decided yet whether Franklin Bucayu, director of the Bureau of Corrections will be dismissed because of their discovery.
”And of course I will have to hear him out also, because he’s part of the planning stage of the operation. We were working on this for 2 to 3 months already,” she said.
