The Toddler Was Just Playing Beside Their Pet Dog, What Happened Next Was Horrifying

Scotland – Two-year-old Ollie Cummings suffered facial injuries after being attacked by a bullmastiff inside the house of his mom’s boyfriend, on Friday night.

According to his 48-year-old grandmother, Debs Martin, Ollie was playing in the kitchen next to the dog as it was eating. She was not sure if maybe the boy dropped the keys next to the dog, all she saw was the dog suddenly turned and began biting the toddler’s head.

“It all happened so fast… There are teeth marks on his head and a large cut from his nose to near his eye.”

His 25-year-old mother, Natasha Wilson, immediately grabbed Ollie from the dog’s teeth then dialed an ambulance. He was then driven to Ninewells Hospital where he faced a two-hour operation.

The doctors who attended Ollie said he will need further surgery when he reaches 10 years old.

Debs said, “Ollie had been playing with some keys, walking from one door to another pretending to lock and unlock them.” She added that the boy was used to being around the dog.

“His nose is being rebuilt. The doctors say that is a clean cut. The biggest worry is preventing infection. He’s not been fazed or scared by what happened. The dog was taken straight to kennels by its owner who is adamant it will be put down.He and Natasha are shocked and upset,” she explains.

Meanwhile, police has yet to give their statement on the issue.

It was reported that one of the most common causes of severe facial lacerations in children (in the UK) are dog attacks.

Roughly 28,000 cases of facial dog bites are reported in the country with just over 19,000 requiring plastic surgery.
