He just loves to take the lid off to get the last sip of his McDonald’s coffee – until he founds a dead mouse in the bottom of the cup

Canada – A Canadian man claims to have found a disgusting dead mouse sitting at the bottom of his McDonald’s coffee just as he was about to take his last sip.

Ron Morais picked up the takeaway McDonald’s coffee on his way to work in Fredericton on Monday. He enjoyed every bit of sip of it and did not notice anything wrong until he took off the lid to get his last sip.

“I always take the lid off to get my last sip of coffee. And when I took the lid off, there was a little bit of a surprise in my coffee cup. It was a dead mouse.”

Also, he found several droppings swimming in the last portions of the coffee, Morais asserted. He then showed the disgusting cup to his co-workers.

“Unless I had been there and seen Ron drink all that coffee down to the last drop, I would have been, like, ‘You’re lying,’” said one colleague, Brad Patterson.

Jennifer LaHaye, another co-worker who saw the mouse, says, “’Oh my God, there’s a mouse in my coffee,’ is what he says. I turn around and look at him. The first time I looked, I actually looked and it’s really, he’s not joking, like is he OK — and after that, I got green to the gills, ” recalling Morais’s reaction.

Jason Patuano, the communications manager for the eastern region of McDonald’s in Canada, issued a statement saying food safety was a “top priority” for the chain saying “We take allegations involving cleanliness and sanitation very seriously.”

Here is a copy of McDonald’s Canada regarding the incident:

Food safety and quality are a top priority for McDonald’s Canada and all of our restaurants are held to high industry standards. We have strict policies and procedures in place to ensure our guests receive the highest quality product when they visit our restaurants.

We take allegations involving cleanliness and sanitation very seriously. Upon learning of this situation, the local franchisee immediately began an investigation, including working closely with the local public health authority who conducted an inspection this morning following receiving a complaint. Both the local health authority and an independent inspection by a pest control company of the interior and exterior today found no evidence of any pest issues in the building.

We are continuing to investigate this isolated incident and have reached out to the customer to obtain the product sample. Until such time as we are able to collect all the necessary facts and laboratory results to conclude a full review, it would be inappropriate for us to comment further. Similarly, we would also caution against jumping to conclusions until more details are available.
