Wedding Coordinator Ruins Couple’s Big Day; Still Hasn’t Completed Wedding Package 6 Months Later [UPDATED]

The story of how a wedding coordinator ruined a couple’s big day is making rounds in the web these past few days, with more and more people also sharing their bad experience with the same person.

A blogger who wishes to stay anonymous created a special website just for sharing the experience. According to the blogger of Wedding Coordinators, the lady coordinator in questionnot only ruined a friend’s wedding but also gave the couple such a hard time getting the rest of items in the wedding package that it took over 6 months before they got the wedding photos (which allegedly looked like a ‘scrapbook’) and the raw video coverage (instead of a ‘cinematic video coverage’).

Preparations

Couples who are planning to tie the knot often seek assistance from wedding coordinators because of a number of reasons. As for the blogger’s friends, they were too busy to do it on their own. An online search led them to the wedding coordinator’s website.

Liking what they saw on the website, they called the company; they were able to speak with the  lady coordinator. The meetings went fine, so they signed the contract and paid the requisite down payment. There were already problems even then, including alleged mistakes in the invitations that had to be redone a couple of times before the company managed to come up with the one the couple had wanted.

The couple also alleged how they had to reschedule meetings a couple of times because the wedding coordinator often does not have time or was always late.

Despite the numerous problems they encountered, the couple decided to honor the contract and let the company handle their wedding preparations.

The Big Day

For the best day of their lives, the couple had chosen a SPLENDID PACKAGE which costs Php 180,000. Right on the day of the wedding, they immediately paid the package in full, with full faith that the wedding coordinator would give them stress-free big day.

To their horror, numerous problems happened during the big event. Several items that were supposed to be included in the wedding package were not provided. Not all chairs promised them were provided, so that many guests had to stand throughout the ceremony.

It was a stressful day for the bride and groom, the blogger claims.

More Problems after the Wedding

After the wedding, the dismayed couple allegedly continued to have several problems with the  lady coordinator.

According to them, the company still owes them the following, one month after the wedding:

  1. Full video coverage
  2. Wedding pictures
  3. Pre Nup pictures
  4. Magazine Type Album
  5. Blow up picture
  6. Their old photos used on the SDE

They had to follow up the  lady coordinator several times so they can receive the items, but encountered a lot of problems with her (read the full account here).

The lady coordinator told them they were supposed to add P5,000 for the video to be edited because the ‘full video coverage’ supposedly shown on the website actually meant the raw video, not the edited one. Checking the site reveals that the company already offers the edited, ‘cinematic’ version of the video with the package. So, why was the  lady coordinator asking for P5,000 for the edited video?

After several heated exchanges over the next few months, they were able to finally given the ‘blown-up’ photo; but it was totally not what they expected.

Six months after the wedding, the lady coordinator  and the company still haven’t completed the items they were supposed to give the couple, in exchange for the P180,000 the bride and groom paid them to have a “stress-free wedding”.

The Wedding Coordinator’s Side of the Issue

Noontime last September 17, we tried to get the wedding coordinator’s side of the issue but were told they are still meeting with the team to come up with an official statement regarding this concern.

We will post an update once the company issues their official statement regarding this issue.

UPDATE

We received the following message from the wedding coordinator team.

hi joy… we’ve seen your write up. we have already reconciled with the client

they already deleted the blog

both parties agreed to no longer speak regarding this issue

pakiusap naman… iba na ang naging epekto sa buong team. if we owe anyone an explanation, its the couple. and if they have decided to put down the blog, kasi tapos na ang issue

families and friends are affected… not only the person involve. maawa naman kayo. last comments in the blog was from the client that the issue was already resolved.

We had a meeting with the couple and naayos naman na po lahat and naibigay na din yung kailangan even the blow up was a miscommunication. Photographers and videographers are there too to explain what happened but there was [no] intention of panloloko. As you can see naman po we have previous clients na satisfied with the services.

Pasensya na po kayo if d kami makapagrelease na ng statement. Its the decision of both parties na rin kaya the tinanggal na din nila yung blog.

Salamat po

  1. Haha, he’d hoping the issue will be “swept under the rug”. I’m not sure he knows what the idiom meant! Kulang sa taktak ng iodized salt.

  2. do they know how important for a couple to have the best wedding that they’d prepared for a few months? And one more thing, they were paid in CASH…so they deserve to get what they paid for. Kaya nga wedding coordinator, dba? to do the job pra stress free yung couple pra look good cla sa wedding…e di sana yung couple nalang ang naging coordinator sa sarili nilang kasal…

  3. pera pera lng hanap ng company.. walng full service provided.. tskk,,, nkakatawang blown up wedding pic… grabe. kht elemntary student pwde gumwa nyan. hahahaha

  4. If both parties already reconciled and agreed not to talk about the issie again then i guess we should all respect that. We can give opinions, we can share our OWN experiences but we should also take into consideration the effect of our words not only to the parties concerned but also to their families and love ones. Life is short for too much negativity. Let’s learn to forgive and learn from our mistakes.

  5. Bubweet, but only if we do learn from our mistakes. And from the message that came from the wedding coordinator’s team, clearly they didn’t learn from their mistake. And clearly they DO NOT want to owe up to the responsibility. If there’s one thing they are forgetting, it’s that they owe everyone an explanation because everyone can be a potential client. And people want to be reassured that such a grave mistake will not be repeated — that’s how you regain trust. Mahanap nga yang pangalan ng wedding coordinator na yan para ikalat na wag na silang kunin. Until they learn to just humble themselves and be more responsible. Lalo lang ako nairita nung nabasa ko yung walang kwenta nilang reply.

  6. “Pasensya na po kayo if d kami makapagrelease na ng statement. Its the decision of both parties na rin kaya the tinanggal na din nila yung blog”

Punitive Damages, statement above is the reason why they are not giving an explanation aside from the fact that they do not owe an explanation to anyone except to the couple affected. Personally, i’d rather see them get up from this mess, make sure that their next events will be 200% worry free and never be on blog sites like this again than have myself waste my time reading their full explanation and giving too many promises that this won’t happen again. I’m pretty sure that even if they submit a 10 page explanation no one will listen and in fact even more people will bash them. Will their explanation reassure us that their grave mistake won’t be repeated? I don’t think so. Actions speak louder than words. If you are preparing for your wedding day then go ahead and don’t hire them to help you. It’s your choice. But writing hurtful words when you don’t even know what really happened…. tsktsktsk…bad. and not helpful to our country. Again, refrain from negativity and help change our country instead. 🙂

  8. I read the comments on that blog before they deleted it. They (the couple & blogger) decided to delete the blog not because the issue had been resolved but because they (Genie De Dame) begged them to. The issue was not just about the “kulang kulang na items on the wedding package” but it’s about the stress, the hassle, poor customer service and the rudeness of Ancel. Akala ko natuto na sila at na-realize na nila ang mga mali nila, hindi pa din pala. Sana maging humble sila and admit their mistakes. Oh well, parang wala talaga sa vocabulary ng Genie De Dame yun. Nakakalungkot lang.
