Pinoy Celebrities take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Over the past few weeks, social media has been teeming with the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. The challenge was Initially kick-started as the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to raise money and awareness for neurodegenerative disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis – also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. There is currently no cure to this disease.

Hollywood celebrities including Russell Brand, Justin Bieber, Iggy Azalea, Nina Dobrev, Taylor Swift, Robert Downey, Jr., Selena Gomez, Chloe Moretz, Oprah Winfrey, George Bush, Cara Delevingne, Victoria Beckham and Anna Wintour have jumped on the band wagon and gamely volunteered for a soaking in a bid to raise cash for charities dedicated to researching the debilitating condition.

This was actually a fund-raising project until it became a viral youtube sensation. The feat is to dump a bucket of ice water on yourself or have a lucky friend do it. You then get to nominate other people who have to comply within 24 hours. Not completing the challenge within the allotted time will require the nominee to donate to the ALS Association. Actually, though many had taken the challenge, they still have donated money. Accepting the challenge was a fun thing to do and actually drive more in people to grow the awareness of such activity.
