“It’s Out Of Our Jurisdiction.” Patient Died After CDRRMO Antipolo Rejected To Provide Ambulance

City Disaster Risk and Reductions Management Office (CDRRMO) is a local working unit that performs special functions in response to circumstances brought about by natural or human-induced disaster. Simply put, they are responsible for ensuring the protection and welfare of the people during disasters or emergencies.

But this was questioned by Mary Michelle Mauricio Edralin who posted a video of her confrontation with the Antipolo CDRRMO officers on Monday. According to her, she requested for aid to transport her grandmother using the ambulance vehicle. Instead, she was asked to go to the community first insisting that it’s out of their area of responsibility. The man on duty also added that they cannot leave Antipolo that easily because there is a set of process and protocol that needs to done before they take action. The patient was Salvacion P. Mauricio, 68 years old, who died the same day because of her illness.

Here is Edralin’s Facebook post:

In an interview with TV5 Aksyon, the family said they knew their grandmother’s life will not last that long, they just expect that the CDRRMO would have the heart to help them bring their Lola Salvacion to the hospital.

Sunday when Lola Salvacion felt sick. They first went to their Barangay to ask for an ambulance but they have another patient in line. So they ask for aid at the CDRRMO Antipolo but instead of helping them, they’re were rejected due to their protocol that they cannot go outside of Antipolo City. Mauricio’s family were able, however, to seek help from the next Barangay.

When asked for the status of the people in the video footage, Mr. Dodie Coronado, PIO of Antipolo City said, “nakasuspend na po from their duty itong mga involved at nagkakaron pa po ngayon ng investigation regarding po doon sa nangyari.” He also stressed that the ‘out of jurisdiction’ remark came from the driver of the ambulance not from the city.
