Cinemalaya Films Uploaded on YouTube; Recieved Ire from Film Critics and Fans

Yesterday all films of CinemalayaX were uploaded on the YouTube Channel of Janssen Agbada, a Technical Personnel of the Cinemalaya Website, and today Cinemalaya Foundation the Official Facebook page of Cinemalaya posted a public apology.

“Only half an hour ago we got wind of the fact that Cinemalaya films were uploaded by Janssen Agbada, technical personnel of the Cinemalaya website yesterday. We apologize for this situation which we had no idea of nor were we aware of what or who caused or gave instruction for her to upload the films. Please rest assured we have reached Janssen already and we will make sure her YouTube account will be disabled or shut down to avoid further damage. Again, our apologies for this situation…”

According to Meg Siasoco the following films were uploaded on YouTube since July 31, Namely : Posas, Mumunting Lihim, Sana Dati, Kamera obskura, Kalayaan, Bwakaw, The Animals, Sta Nina, Ang Katiwala, Requieme, Oros, Intoy Syokoy, Diablo, Mga Dayo, Ang Nawawala, Porno,Liars, Amor y Muerte, Rekorder, Purok 7, Quick Change, Instant Mommy, Diplomat Hotel, Debosyon, David F., and Transit. and has been taken down just today.

Though most of the movies uploaded were from the previous years, a lot of indie movie fans, especially film makers are mad of what had happened and still talking about it in several social networking sites.

The Cinemalaya Website also had a Watch Movies Tab which is linked on Agbada’s YouTube Channel. The Cinemalaya Foundation promised that they will do action regarding the said issue “We assure you this will be dealt with properly and a formal statement will be issued to clarify this sad incident. Again, our deepest and sincerest apologies. Thank you for understanding.”

CinemalayaX is an annual, national film festival this year it started at August 1 to August 10 featuring 10 Films, they promote the creation of unique cinematic works from Filipino Filmmakers.
