After the Tony Labrusca incident at the immigration office of Ninoy Aquino International Airport, the Bureau of Immigration has been keeping an eye on celebrities with foreign passports to find out if they actually do have a valid working permit.

One of the most powerful agencies in a country is the immigration office as they can deport or even ban someone, a foreigner coming into one country.

Foreigners working in the Philippines are not the only ones at risk as there have been cases of international celebrities prohibited on entering a specific place.

Here is a list of celebrities who were banned in certain places.

The Beatles

The legendary band have been banned to enter the country in 1966. It was said to be the result of them declining then first lady Imelda Marcos at the Malacañang.

Alec Baldwin

In 2009, Baldwin was prohibited to enter the country after he has joked about the sex trafficking in the Philippines.

• Deportation case against Tony Labrusca was suggested by a unit of the Bureau of Immigration.

A unit of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) has recommended a deportation case against Fil-Am celebrity Tony Labrusca.

In an interview with Philippine News Agency on Wednesday, January 16, BI Deputy Commissioner Tomas Javier said that it because of his lack of a working visa.

“The (Intelligence Division) recommended to Legal (Division) the filing of deportation case against Labrusca for working without permit, I think.”

It started on January 3, when Labrusca had an alleged burst of outrage at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. He has said to have cursed and shouted at immigration officers who were asking for his working permit.

He was said to be upset after being only allowed 30 days in the country and not the balikbayan privileges which are only given to former Philippine citizens and those with a Filipino family member travelling with them.

In a statement, Labrusca admitted that he was frustrated and was not aware of the policies.

“I admit I was a bit frustrated and that I asked why I was only given 30 days to stay in the country this time. I was unaware of the policy that because I was not with my mother, I did not qualify for a Balikbayan stamp.”

A reindeer driver’s license is required for an individual to be able to drive a reindeer sled in Lapland. There are only two modes of transportation in the area: ski and the said sled.

Jodi will be a part of three movies. One of which is Second Coming wherein she’ll play as the wife of Marvin Agustin.

In a series of tweets, Diaz has confirmed that he was with Labrusca at the immigration office. He added that the latter was made to look like he was the only one at fault even if both sides did something wrong.

He said that there were three other officers in the room when Labrusca was supposed to be having a private discussion with the supervisor. He also accused them of fishing information from him.

The controversy rose after he has posted his now-deleted tweet saying, “Just landed in Manila and the Philippine immigration only gave me 30 days here. Lol. K.”

He spend the holidays in the United States with his mom, Angel Jones, and family.

Since he was born and raised in Texas, he has an American passport, and when he came back to Manila after the holidays, there were some issues regarding his work visa.

A couple of immigration officers from NAIA posted about their side of the story. On facebook, they said that the actor did not just lack a Philippine passport, he was also not with his Filipino parents.

He was said to have shouted and cursed at an official. One officer said that Labrusca even tried to use his popularity to change their decision.

Looking at the screenshots, an officer named Janine Salvador said that the actor was “so proud” to brag that he works in the Philippines when he was supposed to be a tourist.

“He’s so busy building his abs that he forget to build his character,” another officer wrote.

The posts have now been deleted.

Tony Labrusca ‘deeply sorry’ over airport incident

The Kapamilya actor on Friday apologized over an incident at Ninoy Aquino International Airport, where he admitted to “letting my emotions get the better of me” in dealing with an immigration officer. He made the apology on Twitter, addressed to an officer of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) who had informed him of his 30-day allowable stay in the country shortly after arriving here from Canada on Thursday.

But not everyone took the officer’s side as a Netizen said that it is unprofessional for the employees to post about the details of the incident.

Bureu of Immigration warned about Balikbayan’s privilege[s].

The Bureu of Immigration (BI) warned individuals of Filipino lineage that there are limits to a Balikbayan privilage.

They have released a statement amid Labrusca’s NAIA incident.

Immigration spokesperson Dana Krizia Sandoval said, “The privilege is for former Filipinos, and their immediate family members who are traveling with them only.”

She added that the star could’ve enjoyed a year of visa-free privilage in the country if he was traveling with a Filipino. She also addressed his said attitude with dealing wit hte immigration officers.

“It is against the law to disrespect immigration authorities, and violating aliens may be excluded and blacklisted from the Philippines. Showing disrespect to symbols of authority is essentially showing disrespect to the country.

Labrusca has yet to address the incident.

Labrusca has been on the hot seat since he has allegedly shouted and cursed an immigration officer at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

According to several employees, the celebrity doesn’t hold a Philippine passport and was asked to present a working visa, which he failed to show.

He has yet to make a statement regarding the issue.

Tony Labrusca was the first ever guest of an online talk show hosted by his mother, Angel Jones.

In a 30-minute or so video that was uploaded on Facebook, the mother and son became honest and unfiltered as they talked about their past experiences. It included their respective struggles of being a single mother and the son who was witness to his mom and dad fighting along with their family suffering financially.

Jones shared that there was a time that she can’t even buy water for her children and how she also grew up in a broken family as she didn’t have a father back then. She then admitted to have stolen a donut before so that she can have something to eat.

This resulted to Labrusca also admitting that when he was in high school, there were times that he’d steal something from 7-Eleven just to ease his hunger.

When he needed a bag, he also turned to stealing one from a local store. But after acquiring the bag, he realized that he wanted a different color, so he went back and stuffed the second bag inside the first one.

The star clarified that he’s telling the story not because he’s encouraging the youth to steal but to show them that things like that are possible in order for one to survive. He stressed that stealing is bad.
