Alex Calleja returns to Netflix with new comedy special ‘Past Is Past’

Back-to-back No. 1 success

The wait is over for Filipino comedy fans as stand-up comedian Alex Calleja drops his latest Netflix special, “Past Is Past.”

Following the success of his first special “Tamang Panahon,” which made history as the first Filipino stand-up comedy special to reach No. 1 on Netflix Philippines, Calleja proves he’s no one-hit wonder.

Premiering on March 19, “Past Is Past” quickly climbed to the top spot on Netflix Philippines’ Top TV Shows list just a day after its release—an impressive feat considering strong global competition on the platform.

His previous special, released in February 2025, held the No. 1 position for nine days and stayed in the Top 10 for over a month, setting a high bar for his follow-up.

“Umiiyak ako sa kwarto. Sa sobrang saya!”

Calleja took to Facebook to express his gratitude to fans who supported the new special.

Thank you Lord for the blessings!”

In “Past Is Past,” Calleja dives into relatable themes such as family, relationships, work, personal failures, and life lessons—drawing humor from the contrast between past experiences and present realities.

Known for his brutally honest and grounded storytelling, the comedian delivers a message that resonates: Growth is inevitable—but laughter makes the journey easier.

“Past Is Past” is now streaming on Netflix, further cementing Calleja’s place as one of the leading voices in Filipino stand-up comedy today.

With back-to-back hits, Calleja continues to prove that local comedy can thrive—and dominate—on a global platform.
