Alex Eala’s Philippine Arena homecoming sells over 20,000 tickets, targets historic 50,000 crowd

With December 8 approaching, the Philippine Arena event promises to be more than a homecoming exhibition. It is an opportunity to bring tennis to a much wider Filipino audience while giving aspiring young athletes a chance to see one of their own compete on a major stage.

Filipino tennis sensation Alex Eala is gearing up for a massive homecoming as more than 20,000 tickets have already been sold for Alex Eala Live: Game. Set. Celebrate, scheduled for December 8, 2026, at the Philippine Arena.

The milestone signals strong public interest in what organizers hope will become the largest one-day tennis event in Philippine history, with an ambitious target of 50,000 spectators.

The highly anticipated event will feature Eala facing Indonesian tennis standout Janice Tjen in a special exhibition match, bringing together two of Asia’s promising tennis talents.

Eala expressed her excitement over the strong ticket sales and the opportunity to compete in front of a massive home crowd.

“It’s amazing to know that so many fans have already bought tickets to come and watch us play. Thank you to everyone back home for the incredible support,” she said.

“I can’t wait to walk out at the Philippine Arena, hear the roar of the crowd and take on Janice on December 8.”

The event’s organizers believe the response demonstrates the growing appetite for professional tennis in the Philippines, particularly as Eala continues to inspire younger athletes.

Irene Francisco, Managing Director of Tatler Philippines, said the occasion goes beyond showcasing two exceptional players.

“This is not simply about bringing two exceptional young tennis players to the Philippine Arena. It is about giving Filipino families, young players and a new generation of fans the opportunity to experience world-class tennis up close,” she explained.

With more than 20,000 tickets already purchased, organizers are working toward an even larger turnout.

Michel Lamunière, Chairman and CEO of Tatler Group, acknowledged the significance of the early response.

“Fifty thousand is still the ambition. It would be an extraordinary moment for tennis, but the number itself is not the point,” he said.

According to Lamunière, the larger goal is to introduce more Filipinos to tennis while inspiring young players to pursue their sporting ambitions.

Although organizers are positioning the event as a potential record-setting occasion, the 50,000 attendance figure remains a target rather than a confirmed turnout.

Unlike a conventional professional tennis match, Eala and Tjen’s exhibition will use a special three-set format.

All three sets will be played regardless of the results of the earlier sets, with the winner determined by the cumulative number of games won.

Organizers will also introduce event-specific Overtime and Super Shootout procedures, with full details to be released to ticket holders and accredited media before the event.

The program will feature Hot Stars, highlighting Philippine Tennis Association national juniors and rising professionals, followed by a Celebrity Match before the main attraction.
