With the help of her father’s small earnings, garbage collector’s daughter successfully finished college.

In GMA Network’s Father’s Day series “#SalamatPa“, Jenny Rose Quimado shares how proud she is of her father, Cristito Quimado.

Cristito is a garbage collector and in spite of the dangers and health hazards of his job, he still managed to send one of his kids to college. He only earns a maximum of P500 per day and with that, he budgets to send four of his five kids to school.

He stated that to support his family, he wakes up at 3 AM in order to go to work at 4 AM. As soon as he arrives at the truck, he starts collecting people’s garbage.

Cristito admits that there are days when his earnings are just not enough as he has a big family. Being a garbage collector is never easy and he always gets scratches from broken glass since he handles all kinds of trash.

“It’s hard to have a big family, but I strive to take care of them. There are times when we don’t have money to buy food.”

Jenny Rose graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Technology degree. When she was a student, she had to travel from Manila to Las Piñas to attend her classes. And on hard days, she had to go to school without any allowance resulting to her sleeping over and borrowing money from a classmate.

She expressed that she is very proud of her father and it’s okay if his earnings are small because he has a noble job.

Pa, I’m grateful that you are my father. Thank you because you are always there for us. We love you.”
