Young Guy gives up DOTA, promises to be a responsible father

  • While they were both studying, Blogger Treszka Tio Oliveria and husband Mark unexpectedly got pregnant.
  • Mark initially hesitated to take on the new role, but eventually gave up Dota and all his vices to be a family man.

For most young men, the road to becoming a responsible husband and father is not an easy path. It takes years of dedication, discipline and sacrifice in order to accept and take on the challenging role of raising a family.

Blogger Treszka Tio Oliveria wrote an inspiring Facebook post about how her husband Mark changed his ways in order to become the husband and father he is now. Through a lengthy post on Facebook, Treszka hopes to inspire other young dads and future fathers.

After learning that they were pregnant, Mark initially hesitated to accept the new role because he feared this would make their parents disappointed. His reaction seems quite normal as they were still both studying to earn their respective degrees.

“Takot akong madisappoint ang parents natin,” Mark told Treszka.

To which she responded: “It’s okay. Don’t worry about us, I can do this. Itutuloy ko, kahit wala ka. But I have to let you go, kasi hindi na ako ang makakapagpa-saya sayo.”

But it didn’t take long before Mark changed his mind and took a leap of faith. Right after his class, Mark returned to Treszka’s home with a plastic full of fruits on one hand and a fruit shake on the other.

“Nabigla lang ako. I am so sorry,” Mark told Treszka.

Apparently, Mark had a sudden change of heart while praying in class.

“All his fears were gone. It had to be the Lord’s work, because I have not done anything to create such a powerful change of heart,” Treszka wrote.

Since then, Mark changed his ways and dropped all his vices including playing Dota to be the perfect father for Tazi and husband to Treszka.

“Whenever I look at Mark change a diaper, or give me a massage because I have been exhausted taking care of our daughter the entire day, or when he gives Taziana a bath, picks her clothes, feeds her, teaches her songs, any duty he does… I always see him smiling. He can spend hours in school but when he comes home to us, his energy feels very fresh. He can travel from North to South for 6 hours and still delightfully serve us the moment he comes home,” Treszka added.

Towards the end of her post, Treszka encouraged young fathers and future dads to prioritize their family more than anyone or anything else.

“Your treasure is not the amount of girls you have dated, your standing in online games or the number of “friends” you have (you only have a few REAL friends), these things do not matter. At the end of the day, it will boil down to how you have served your family, how you have strived for their happiness and how you lead them closer to The Lord. This is a treasure that will last you a lifetime.”
