Moviegoers in Lebanon won’t have the chance to watch the blockbuster film “Wonder Woman” which stars Israeli actress Gal Gadot after authorities issued a ban against the film.

According to a report by pagesix.com, Lebanese authorities prohibited the screening of the said film as part of a campaign against Gadot, who served in the Israeli army. Currently, Lebanon is officially at war with Israel.

A former Israeli solder, Gadot’s service overlapped with the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict that resulted to the deaths of 1,200 people in Lebanon and displacement of approximately a million. The war also led to the deaths of about 160 Israeli.

Gadot, has previously expressed her support to the Israeli military in a social media post back in 2014.

“I am sending my love and prayers to my fellow Israeli citizens. Especially to all the boys and girls who are risking their lives protecting my country against horrific acts conducted by Hamas.”

The said ban is in accordance with a decades-old law that prohibits Israeli products and prevents Lebanse citizens from going to Israel or having contacts with its citizens.

Violators of the ban will have to face legal consequences, which have not been specified.
