This Woman Saved Every 50 Peso She Got and Earned Enough to Get Herself a Ticket to Ed Sheeran’s Concert

  • A female netizen named Niña Carmel Fernandez shared how she was able to buy a ticket to Ed Sheeran’s concert from her own savings.
  • Originally, she was saving up for something else, but Ed’s concert is something she wouldn’t want to miss.

Saving money is one of the surest ways to acquire a personal goal – no matter how small or big it might be.

However, saving up is truly a tough challenge as there will be a lot of temptations that a person would want to spend his/her savings on. Some of those who try to save money can’t resist the temptation, but there are also a few who are determined to make their dreams come true.

One of the persons who are able to control themselves and saved up a lot of money is Niña Carmel Fernandez.

According to her, she began saving money last 2016 during the month of August.

Read her inspiring post below:

August last year I started this Thrifty 50 challenge for myself. I stumbled upon it on Twitter and I wanted to see if I could also save money by keeping every 50 peso bill that ever comes my way. No kidding, it’s hard, but it eventually became my habit to scout for bills to add to my pile! I’m still a palamunin (hello mama & papa) so I wasn’t really able to hit my personal target (enough money for a drone.. hello again parents). I admit this would’ve amounted more but sa mga oras na ako’y gipit, di ko maiwasang kumupit.“

Fernandez admitted that she found it hard to stay away from her savings during those times that she badly needs money. However, she made sure to keep adding more bills to her savings to make up for how much she had gotten.

Come May 10 this year, the Manila leg of Ed Sheeran’s (@teddysphotos) #DivideTour was announced so I got really excited and made pa-cute to my parents first (bc hello I still wanted to double my savings and not spend it yet). Kaloka ang 2 days notice for the selling date! I had to convince them na! Pero ISIS season man lagi so hala duha-duha, tulo-tulo. Ofc, I wasn’t gonna let this moment pass again so I unwrapped my heavily taped bundle of red-colored cash. Hurts a bit bro, but all for love!! Thank you, Ma, for finally giving me the go signal that I needed! “

She also revealed that she wasn’t supposed to spend her savings just yet as she was hoping her parents would be persuaded by her efforts.

However, she realized that she really needed her savings on this on so she decided to ask for help from her mother to decide.

Moving on.. Y’all probably already know about my 6-hour wait for the most coveted ticket but damn, you have no idea what thoughts ran in my mind while I was waiting in line. I was so close to losing hope and giving in to scalpers (jusq ang mahal sa stubhub) or maybe even going for gen ad. But my bundles of cash were patiently waiting inside my bag and I wasn’t gonna deny them the chance of ever landing in the hands of the ticketing dude at the counter!”

Fernandez waited in line at ten in the morning, and was only able to get to the counter at four in the afternoon. Imagine how tired and hungry she must have been while waiting, but still managed to be patient for Ed Sheeran’s much awaited concert.

Thank Jesus that out of the three seats left at the Patron A section (at least that’s what the ticketing angel showed me), I got the last one! Mehehe shoutout to you, Sir, for still checking it out despite the soldout announcements. Man, his giggle when I handed him my money, though! PRICELESS!

Now kids, learn your lesson. Always save for the rainy days!

After the long wait, Fernandez just scored a Patron A ticket and sure enough, she’ll be seeing Ed in person real soon!

Meanwhile, the netizens were also encouraged to save money so they would have enough on their pocket when something wonderful comes up for them.

Fernandez proved that saving money is indeed a wonderful idea, especially when you stumbled upon something that you really wanted to buy. Moreover, she showed how she remained disciplined and saved a lot for the long run as much as she can.

How about you? What are your personal practices in saving money?
