Parent warns public against alleged ‘bukas kotse’ gang members near KFC Katipunan

An unidentified parent of a grade 7 Ateneo student warned the public against two men who allegedly tried to open his/her car doors while he/she was parked at a KFC restaurant near Xanland Building along Katipunan, Quezon City.

According to a  Facebook post by Geegee Lopez, the parent claimed that two men attempted to open his/her car doors, one on the passenger side and another on the driver’s side. Luckily, the doors were locked preventing the men from executing their plans.

The parent was able to take a photo of the men which was shared via Facebook by Lopez.

According to Lopez, many parents of Ateneo students order food from the said fast food restaurant because it is close to their kids’ tutorial center.

A report by Manila Bulletin revealed that “bukas kotse” gang members often target parked private vehicles or taxis with or without passengers. The street profile of these culprits ranges from decent-looking men to young children. Common victims include women, mostly mothers who leave their kids inside the car. Aside from stealing, “bukas kotse” gang has been known to abduct children.
