WATCH: School teacher strips in front of students to teach human anatomy

One important characteristic of being a teacher is creativity, to find ways to keep their students interested. And that’s what Debby Heerkens, a biology teacher in Groene Hart Rijnwoude School in Netherlands did in her class.

To teach them about human anatomy, Heerkens decided to use her own body as a visual aid. She stood up on her table, in front of the class, and started stripping off her clothes.

Shocked, the ninth grade students did not know what to expect. But as the teacher revealed what was underneath her clothes, they became excited. Heerkens was actually wearing layers of spandex bodysuits illustrating the various systems, showing the muscles, organs, and skeleton.

In an interview, Heerkens, who has been teaching for seven years, said she felt the need to do something more creative to educate and keep her students engaged. She wanted to help the kids visualize the very detailed anatomy of the human body.

According to Metro, the inspiration came after she saw a woman in the street wearing similar leggings. She then asked the school director for permission to take the idea into her class.

While her teaching methodology has gone viral after the school uploaded her video, she admitted she will not be using the same approach in all her future classes.

Meanwhile netizens lauded her style, saying it’s really creative, innovative, and something the students won’t easily forget.
