It could be a wart which commonly occurs on hands, feet or other areas of the body. Usually caused by one of the many types of human papillomavirus (HPV), this condition can be passed from skin-to-skin contact. Although benign, warts can be painful.

Most warts disappear after 18 months. However, if you feel uncomfortable having them, doctors can prescribe the use of creams with salicylic acid. If other therapies do not seem to work, cryosurgery (deep freezing) or laser therapy may be needed.
