Pulitzer Prize winner Carol Guzy took this photo of Kosovar refugee Agim Shala, 2, as he is passed through a barbed wire fence into the hands of his grandparents at a camp run by the United Arab Emirates in Kukes, Albania. The members of the Shala family were reunited here after fleeing the conflict in Kosovo.

The Kosovo War was an armed conflict in Kosovo that lasted from February 28, 1998 until June 11, 1999. It was fought by the forces of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, which controlled Kosovo before the war, and the Kosovo Albanian rebel group known as the Kosovo Liberation Army.
