Netizen Jilli Nel posted a photo on Facebook of Kansas police officer Andy Black holding and feeding a baby girl while paramedics were helping her mother onto a stretcher.

Nel included a touching caption that read, “This is what we don’t get to see… the times of the quiet hero… going beyond his duty… My heart was sooooo warmed.”

Noting that a photo like this should go viral like some negative posts, Nel urged Facebook friends to share the picture which received an overwhelming response from netizens.

In an interview with BuzzFeed News, Overland Park officer Black said he was off duty at Oak Park Mall when heard a call to assist a woman who had a medical issue.

When he got to the scene, the mom had recovered, but did not have enough strength to pick up her baby. Worried she wouldn’t be able to hold the baby properly, Black asked if he could hold the baby instead.

“I did what I needed to and fed the baby with the bottle,” he said.

While feeding the infant, Nel asked Black if she could take a picture of him with the baby and he agreed.

When Nel told him how amazing his deed was, the grandfather of 14 assured that “he got this covered.”

The woman’s partner soon arrived and Black helped them to the ambulance.

He said what he did was just something ordinary, but later joked, “I’ll see the photo on Facebook tomorrow.

“I can’t believe it, to me it’s such a small thing, but I’m glad it worked out the way it has because law enforcement can use some positive reinforcement,” Black said.

“He does get the acknowledgement that he so deserved,” Nel said it and she was right.

Officer Gary Mason of the Overland Park Police Department couldn’t agree more and said that the photo is a perfect representation of how humble a police officer Black is.

“He is always willing to give of himself to others,” Mason said.

Great job, Officer Black!
