Videos have long been used to provide information and educate children. So how do we teach about genitals aside from calling them peepees?
Bacillakuten, a Swedish children’s show did not just get creative in making a video about the penis and the vagina, but made the song about the genitals so catchy, the video already has more than 2 million views as of writing. The video which has become viral was first shown on Bacillakuten, a Swedish educational children’s show about the body and different illnesses. It is aired on Sveriges Television (SVT) on Sundays, hosted by Petter and Mia.
The song mainly introduces the genitals. Snoppen comes from “snopp”, a term used to call penis in Sweden, and snippan comes from “snipp”, which means vagina. Aside from the catchy melody, the video is an attractive cartoon of the genitals dancing and singing, dressed with hats, ribbons and even as old people. It was set in colorful background as well to attract children.
The song actually doesn’t have so much meaning. The lyrics that are actually a bit ridiculous, like “an elegant vagina on an old woman”, and “here comes the penis, galloping”. But this is actually not new to Swedish people, it was mentioned in Transparent Language that Swedish people are actually more open-minded than other nationalities. According to the same article, you can see more skin in their beaches than in other countries.
