American personal computer pioneer Steve Jobs was an inventor, engineer, and co-founder of Apple Computers. He was suffering from pancreatic cancer and had resigned as CEO of Apple in 2011. He died at his Palo Alto, California home in October 2011.

In June 2014, Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 left Amsterdam and was shot down as it flew over the Ukraine. There were no survivors. Gary Slok took this selfie of himself and his mom before the doomed plane took off.
