1.) African and North American wilderness – People often associate wilderness with Africa due to its safaris and its huge land area.

However, North America has a higher percentage of wilderness than Africa. Close to 40 percent of North America’s territories fall under this classification due largely to the almost 80 percent of Canada’s uninhabited areas.

Meanwhile, Africa’s wilderness is just close to 30 percent but its rainforests contain nearly half of known animal and plant species in the world. What’s scary though is the deforestation rate in Africa is faster than anywhere in the world.
