Teddy Locsin Jr. calls Larry Gadon a ‘hobbit’

DFA Secretary Teddy Locsin called Gadon a “hobbit” after the latter made headlines for not wearing a mask properly.

  • Locsin also accused Vice President Robredo of being hurtful regarding her sentiments about Gadon’s issue.
  • Gadon then stated that he doesn’t believe in the effectiveness of wearing masks outdoors.

Atty. Larry Gadon became a hot topic online after photos of him wearing a mask inappropriately spread online.

Netizens pored over images of the lawyer which clearly showed that he wasn’t really wearing a maks while outdoors, rather the mask was taped to his face shield to make the illusion that he’s wearing it.

Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro “Teddy” Locsin Jr. called Gadon a “hobbit” for his latest stunt.

He has also talked back to a netizen who called him out for heavily criticizing Vice President Leni Robredo and told him that he didn’t even call out Gadon.

This was after Locsin described Robredo’s sentiments against Gadon’s actions as “hurtful” to anyone.

“I don’t think the good public deserves so low an estimation of its capacity for discernment. Just saying, ma’am,” he wrote.

On the other hand, Gadon defended himself and stated that he doesn’t believe in masks as it’s only good for small areas.

“I don’t believe in mask outdoors. The face shield is okay. Mask may be good for small enclosed places like elevators or conference rooms. In my case, the mask is only for a show because store (sic) will not allow entry if you don’t have a mask.”

He also questioned the effectiveness of masks and asked that if it’s really effective, how come there are more than 100,00 people in the country that has contracted the virus?

“If mask (sic) is really effective, how come there are more than 100,000 people afflicted with COVID? And more than 2,000 dead victims?

Department of Health (DOH) then refuted Gadon’s claims and said that it’s not a joking matter.

“This is not a joking matter. People know there are those who dying, getting sick, and that the economy is suffering,” DOH undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergire said during a briefing.

“These kinds of statements are not helping us at all…. People might follow this and get sick and who will it fall on? Healthcare workers who are really suffering already.”
